Pictures of Pripyat

This is a collection of pictures from the town of Pripyat. It will keep being updated as long as I find new pictures. I'll do my best to add descriptions and timelines, however it is often that I find those pictures without information. This is more so a gallery, there won't be a long backstory about the picture and how it was taken. If any picture does have one, it'll be its own post. This is a compilation.

As much as I could gather about Toptunov

Due to his job and involvement in the Chernobyl disaster, Toptunov often becomes the subjects of all sorts of false theories. What he did at the control room that fateful night is usually portrayed wrong in order to characterise him a certain way. According to many, he is the sole cause of the Chernobyl disaster. As a victim of the disaster, he is often just a statistic. This post includes as much information as I could find that was also verifiable in some way. Leonid Toptunov was born on 16/8/1960 in Mykolaivka of the Sumy oblast in Ukraine, but did not live there for very long. As his father, Fyodor, was a senior military officer who supervised the space program of the Soviet Union, the family moved to Baikonur. All I could gather about Akimov

Akimov, just like his employee, is often misrepresented, as he had a very big role in the Chernobyl disaster. He is also twisted to fit certain views of himself and the kind of person he was. Many believe that he caused the disaster himself through blind obedience or simply idiocy. This post will explore his life and death, featuring everything about Akimov that I could find and verify. Alexander Akimov was born on 6/5/1953 in Novosibirsk, to Fyodor and Zinaida. He was the first child out of three sons in his family. His father was an officer of the marine coast guard and was someone that many people looked up to, including his son. Due to the respect towards him, Akimov and his brothers were practically untouchable as no other child could bother them, something he used to protect other children, including his friend Alexander Nebikov.
